TIME BASE CORRECTORS
Many people own video stock which is old and may even be effected by the silver content in the tapes disintegrating. The source is often effected by this, even in a normal tape to DVD recording , the time base ( where all the info is held re sync etc.) is effected causing the picture tobecome unstable and wobble. Then there is the issue of copyrighted tapes they have protection which will disrupt the sync making recording impossible, which is harsh really as you ahve already paid for the tape and all artists recieved their due. A time base corrector simply strips the info in the bottom 30 lines ( which cannot be seen) and reintroduce a new, rock steady sync so your priceless tapes are allowed to live on a new media. Time base correctors are worth their weight in gold. If there is colour bleed, a time base corrector will assist, but if the colour bleed is embedded in the recording ( say a second or third generation recording) then it cannot repair this damage. It's automatic and performs the conversion in realtime.

into it's own if the source is fairly near the mark. It will make an average
