THERE ARE TWO
TYPES OF NTSC COMMONLY AVAILABLE FOR CONVERSION. NTSC 3.58 WHICH IS ASSOCIATED
WITH AMERICA AND CANADA & NTSC 4.43 WHICH IS FOR JAPAN (ALTHOUGH JAPAN
IS CHANGING TO PAL NOW). MOST CONVERTERS WILL CONVERT FROM EITHER FORMS
OF NTSC BUT MOST CONVERTERS WILL OUTPUT IN ONLY NTSC 3.58 SO IF IT'S NTSC
4.43 YOU NEED AS OUTPUT, BEWARE.
If you look around you will see analogue devices which cost £22 ish so why would you pay £100 + for something that seemingly does the same job?

There are two types of converter
1.
Analogue.
This is a very
simple device which will allow any NTSC TV which has a stable black and
white picture to show the screen in glorious colour, they only tend to
work for screens up to 28" in size as they get a bit blurry on larger tv's.
They are a simple fix and never should be bought for recording purposes.
So, if you just need to get a colour picture on a NTSC TV from a PAL source and your existing picture is stable but black and white then an analogue device will help you. A good example of this use is with computer gaming and a DVD player & Camcorders.
Potential problems, some people living in South America and the borders can buy TV's which are multi region, they cater for NTSC and PAL M, if the TV is set to PAL M then you may get a stable black and white picture to start with, this converter will only help you if you have the tv set to NTSC, you will still get a stable black and white picture if you use this type of conveter with the TV set to PAL M. If your TV is definately from a set region like America or Canada and you are getting a stable picture, the analogue device will help you.
We recommend the
model below as there is a small white box out there which is notoriously
unreliable. Our model has a bypass button, so if you do pass different
regions down the same line ( like on a multi region DVD player) then this
little box is a good buy, you won't be fiddling with wires every time there
is a region change. They are reliable too.

Digital
They do the real
work, converting from 625 lines of PAL to 525 lines of NTSC and they physically
change the refresh rate 50 hz for PAL and 60Hz for NTSC. If you wish to
record the conversion you can only use a digital converter for NTSC and
PAL. The processor is far more expensive for this kind of conversion because
it all has to be done in realtime. Most machines under £300 also
tend to have a physical screen size limit of 28" measured top right to
bottom left of the screen after which the resolution becomes poorer and
the picture more blocky.
Digital is required if any kind of recording is occuring & these are the areas where most people are effected.
1. Bought a digital
camera in a PAL area, come home to find it won't record in an NTSC region.
2. DVD conversion.
3. If you get
a rolling screen when you plug in your PAL source to an NTSC TV.
4. You have a
true PAL video recorder and you need to convert PAL tapes to NTSC

Place your order online and run off two copies, send one copy to us with your Media, blanking out any sensitive data. Please ensure that you pack the product in a way that would survive the transport from you to us. It's always best to use a trusted courier for this task, especially if it's a conversion of special importance to you. So send it recorder delivery at the very least. We will process your order, it normally takes 48 hours but in particularly busy times could be longer. We will tell you the approx turn around time if it's going to be longer than 48hours.
